White Sands, New Mexico, is one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. The white sand stretches across the desert like snowy hills, and sparse desert vegetation hides in the few and far-between shady nooks.

But White Sands is not only known for its beauty; it is also a major hub of UFO lore and activity. There have been numerous stories of alleged sightings, alien encounters, and classified technology tests near White Sands.

One of the most famous events happened in 1964. Often called the “Socorro Incident’, it was an alleged UFO sighting that occurred on April 24, near Socorro, New Mexico. Police officer Lonnie Zamora claimed he saw two people beside a shiny object that later rose into the air, accompanied by a roaring blue-and-orange flame.

Even as recently as 1997, there have been accounts of strange craft crashes around White Sands.

But why is White Sands a hot spot for UFO activity? Some think it’s the vastness and the unknown of the desert. Others will say it’s the proximity to the missile range and the military’s secrecy. Either way, White Sands is mysterious and a spot I highly recommend for anyone who just might believe in aliens. 👽
